The Traveler

All praise be to the Hidden Treasure in our heartsAfter dawn we thanked the Lord together in prayer seeking His clear and straight path ahead where His pleasure lay without any fear. We finally reached our destination and joy overcame our longing hearts as we bowed down in prostration and reached deep into the well for a fresh start.

All praise be to the Hidden Treasure in our hearts

I packed my bag and headed to
God’s well of overflowing mercy
The trek I knew would be long and hard
Across a desert so dirty

I walked in blazing sunlight
Quite determined to my task
When along came a beautiful horse
With mane so smooth and shiny, beaconing me to embark

I thanked Allah for this blessing
That would ease my long journey ahead
And trotted off in search of the well
Quite sure it must now be nearby

I rode forward without swerving
But soon a young lady caught my eye
In her bucket sparkling like jewels in the sunlight
Water to quench a thirsty man’s appetite

She offered it to me so sweetly
With such grace, beauty and poise
I remembered to thank my Creator
And avert my gaze from any vice

For my journey ahead was still pending
I could not afford to lose
Any time just in case I made it too late
And my fate vanished if my soul I abused

As I rode forward with much determination
A gentleman stopped me by and by
You must be new and a traveler
Join me for dinner, if you will oblige

I considered the prospect of denial
Felt it too heavy a burden to bear
And found myself hence in the company
Of a true believer, who my journey was about to share

The two of us rode in the early shimmer
After dawn we thanked the Lord together in prayer
Seeking His clear and straight path ahead
Where His pleasure lay without any fear

We finally reached our destination
And joy overcame our longing hearts
As we bowed down in prostration
And reached deep into the well for a fresh start

What we found brought us to tears
A note in the bucket which read
The heart of a believer is where I reside
No well large enough that can contain My love instead

For you see I am Kanzan Makhfiyya
Hidden treasure in the heart of your soul
My mercy and bounties are always with you
I am so close, if you would only behold!
