Slave of Allah [swt]

when i die
i want to be remembered
as a quiet man
a simple man
a humble man
i want my friends to remember me
as a man who was indifferent
to what others thought of him
the clothes he wore
the life he led
i want to be known as that man
who sacrificed his life for Allah
who cried every time he heard
the story of Kerbala
i want to be remembered
as a man with few possessions
some clothes, few books
and a prayer mat
i want to be thought of
as that man
who smiled but never laughed loudly
who eagerly waited for his death
who woke up in the dark hours of the night
to weep, to beg, to pray
i want to be known
as that man
who had a quiet, hoarse voice
who slept on the floor
who lived on bread, raisins, and water
and on special days such as Eid
would drink a little milk
i want to be remembered
as that man
who was on his prayer mat
before it was time to pray
after prayer was over
